Father to the fatherless and always trying to strengthening young teen boys and men. Many counseling sessions on his front porch, and Sunday fellowships sharing and teaching the word on empowerment in life, in the word and in finance.

The Late Pastor Archie Smith was the founder/ Senior Pastor of Gates of Praise Christian Church for twelve years under the leadership of Bishop Waymond , Sr. and Pastor Jackie Burton of Zina Christian Church in Raleigh, NC. Also, there were countless Bishop and Pastors that shaped and mold the ministry.

Pastor Archie Smith, Senior Pastor of the Gates of Praise Christian Church gave his life to the LORD Jesus Christ on the second Sunday of January 1981 and has been running with Jesus ever since. With a burning desire to share Jesus with others and to be a witness, he joined the Good News Evangelistic team, which went door to door in various communities sharing Christ. His hunger for the Word of God would keep him up late at night studying the Word of God and praying. Being led by the Spirit of God, he would attend seminars, workshops, and Bible schools that would help him in his quest for knowledge and understanding. He is a graduate of Bread from Heaven Bible School in Creedmoor under the late Dr. Mack Timberlake. Pastor Archie attended More Than Conquerors College in Charlotte, North Carolina under leadership of Pastor Robyn Gool and received many certificates on varies Pastoral subject matters.

Pastor Archie L. Smith preached his initial sermon in 1986 and was ordained as an Elder/Minister in 1987, because of his faithfulness to the call on his life, and background experience as Elder, Pastor, President of Follow Up, Sunday school teacher, Outreach coordinator, college outreach and alter worker.
Pastor Archie Smith received a degree in computer science and his background was in computers and IT system Analyst for twenty four years with countless awards in security, programming languages, data base, disaster recovery certifications, set on numerous boards and professor teaching computer courses at the local college.

Pastor Archie Smith met Pastor Linda L. Smith in college and was married for over thirty two years. Out of this union, they were blessed with five awesome daughters and two grandsons.
